SPICECAP/ICECAP II Instrument Measurements (LASER, MAGNETICS and POSITIONING)These aerogeophysical data were collected as part of the ICECAP (International Collaborative Exploration of the Cryosphere through Airborne Profiling) collaboration in 2015/16 (ICP7). These data were in part funded by the US National Science Foundation (grant PLR-144390 to UTIG), ACE-CRC the G. South Pole Magnetometer DataSlow variations of the terrestrial magnetic field are measured with the fluxgate magnetometer (DC to the Nyquist frequency of 0.5 Hz, at 1-Hz sampling rate); the sensor itself comprises three small mutually perpendicular coils of wire. The fluxgate magnetometer can measure fluctuations as small as 0.03 nT, although magnetic storm effects often are associated with perturbations of 1000 nT or more.
