Constraining Plio-Pleistocene West Antarctic Ice Sheet Behavior from the Ohio Range and Scott GlacierModeling fluctuations in the extent of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet (WAIS) over time is a principal goal of the glaciological community. These models will provide a critical basis for predictions of future sea level change, and therefore this work great societal relevance. The mid-Pliocene time interval is of particular interest, as it is the most recent period in which global temperatures were wa

Quantitative X-ray Diffraction Mineralogy of Los Angeles Basin Core SamplesThis report contains X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis of mineralogy for 81 sediment samples from cores taken from three drill holes in the Los Angeles Basin in 2000-2001. We analyzed 26 samples from Pier F core, 29 from Pier C core, and 26 from the Webster core. These three sites provide an offshore-onshore record across the Southern California coastal zone. Investigations of the glacial and periglacial geology of the Miers and Taylor ValleyThe glacial and periglacial geology of the Miers and Taylor Valley was investigated. Special interests of the Miers and Taylor Valleys lie in their ice covered lakes and in the prolematic benches which run around the valleys - often called ice cored moraines. Cores were drilled in the ridges of rock detritus which lie on the ice and run inside the margin of Lake Miers to determine how the benches

Geological and geomorphic data and Sirius Group core analysis (stratigraphy, petrographical analysis, ground temperature and isotope analysis) from Table Mountain to determine the depositional historyThe depositional and post depositional history of the Sirius Group tillite in the Dry Valleys area was investigated to resolve the ongoing debate as to whether the East Antarctic ice sheet formed 14 million years ago and retained its shape until present day (stabilists view) or if the nearly complete deglaciation of the East Antarctic Ice Sheet occurred 3 million years ago explaining the presence

Determination of a polar wander path for Beacon Supergroup at Mount Bastion, West Beacon and Table MountainThe Beacon Supergroup in the McMurdo Sound region is a flat lying continental sequence about 2000m thick and ranging in age from Early Devonian to Late Triassic (400 to 180 my BP). A polar wander curve for Antarctica for this 200 my period was attempted and oriented rock samples were collected for analysis. Oriented samples were collected at time intervals of no longer than 0.5 my, roughly every 3

Samples were analysed for weathering.
