Anthropogenic management shapes warming-induced soil organic carbon loss across warming magnitude and durations
How warming magnitude, duration, and anthropogenic management interactively regulate SOC and its functional fractions remains globally uncertain. We conducted a global meta-analysis of 1,038 observations from 99 warming studies to quantify responses of total SOC, SOC fractions, soil ecological functions, and physicochemical properties.

Horticultural modernisms: reading the modernist gardenThis thesis explores gardens and horticulture in modernist writing. Dominant critical paradigms have read the modernist garden as a product of writers’ ecological concern and desire to establish a more profound and benign relationship with the natural world. However, such anachronistic, retrospective ecocritical frameworks have denied the material and historicised complexity of the garden in its o

Biotic and abiotic factors influencing the invasion success and ecological impacts of the Pacific oyster, Crassostrea gigasCoastal ecosystems are subject to a wide variety of abiotic conditions. Water motion within coastal ecosystems is a key abiotic factor controlling species abundances and biological processes yet is often not measured. Coastal ecosystems are also susceptible to invasive species due to increased anthropogenic activity. Invasive species can have severe ecological impacts on recipient ecosystems causi

While there is growing consensus that prevention is better than cure, successful prevention requires user-friendly, effective methods to quantify the ecological impacts of established, emerging and future IAS.
