R250 Bird Surveys Faroe Islands

The data include surveys undertaken for time-limited environmental impact assessments and annual monitoring. The dataset is updated as new surveys become available, and future releases may include additional locations.

The R250 method records birds and behavioural evidence of breeding within a 250 m radius of a survey point. Observers record the species, behaviour or breeding code, distance, and compass direction of each observation. Survey results can be used to estimate numbers of birds and breeding pairs, with calibrated counts accounting for the proportion of the survey circle visible from the observation point.
