The agency created the Statistical Reporting System (SRS) to track the status of aliens in the United States.

Description

The agency used the Lawful Immigrant Files, one component of the SRS, to identify aliens lawfully admitted for permanent residence in the United States, including persons previously admitted whose status was adjusted to that of permanent resident. The agency produced statistical summary reports on immigration from these records.

This series contains records with the alien's name, the Immigration and Naturalization Service assigned identification number, age, country of birth, sex, marital status, nationality, occupation, port of entry, and state and area of intended residence.
