Pashto Language Dataset of Speech and Text (PLDST)

The dataset consists of recordings from five native Pashto speakers, meticulously gathered under controlled conditions to guarantee clarity and consistency. It comprises 20,000 audio recordings, each accompanied by relevant textual information.

The textual material includes Pashto script, its English translation, and a Romanized Pashto transcription, so aiding in pronunciation modeling and multilingual alignment. The dataset comprises two primary components: an audio folder containing recordings and a corresponding Excel file with three columns (Pashto text, English translation, and Romanized Pashto) featuring 20,000 aligned entries. This resource establishes a significant basis for enhancing research in low-resource language modeling, speech synthesis, and cross-lingual applications pertaining to the Pashto language.
