Thermodynamic Profiling Technologies Workshop report to the National Science Foundation and the National Weather Service

Such observations are central to some of the most important research and operational goals in atmospheric and Earth system studies, mesoscale numerical weather prediction, and monitoring of regional climate variability.

The Workshop was also motivated by the recommendations of the NRC study Observing Weather and Climate from the Ground Up; A Nationwide Network of Networks (2009, available at nap.edu/catalog.php?record_id=12540), several of which dealt with observational priorities in the low troposphere. The principal investigators on this project were Rit E. Carbone and Robert J. Serafin.
