Background
An explicit, easy-to-read dispensed label design should support users in following medication instructions accurately. Objective: To investigate the impact of user-centred labels (UCL) on medication users’ instruction comprehension compared with usual label formats. <br>

Methods
A systematic search was conducted across relevant databases. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses checklist was followed for conducting the review. Screening, appraisal, data extraction and synthesis were conducted using JBI SUMARI software. <br>Results: The review included 15 articles, and most showed improved comprehension of UCL-based medical instructions compared with usual instructions.
The meta-analysis of six studies showed that UCL-based medication instructions significantly improved comprehension compared with usual instructions (RR: 1.33, p = 0.007). <br>Discussion: The review suggests that UCL-based instructions are easier to understand than usual practice. Policymakers, pharmacy organisations and pharmacists should encourage the inclusion of UCL features on labels generated for dispensed medicines.</p>
