Immunogenicity and safty of COVID-19 vaccines in lung transplant recipients: a meta-analysis

The pooled rate of detectable humoral immune response after two doses of COVID-19 vaccines in lung transplant recipients was 29.4%(95%CI: 22.6%-36.8%). Fatigue and headache were common side effects in people receiving the COVID-19 vaccines, the pooled rate of them were 26.8% (95%CI: 18.7%-35.8%) and 11.9% (95%CI: 7.7%-16.7%) separately. Pain at the injection site was the most common local symptom in people, the pooled rate of it was 62.6% (95%CI: 53.9%-70.9%).Conclusion Two doses of COVID-19 vaccines provide humoral immune protection to a small percentage of lung transplant recipients.

There are minor adverse reactions such as fatigue, headache and pain at the injection site after vaccination. Lung transplant recipients need more effective vaccination strategies to improve the immune responses.
