The agency created this series for use by government agencies, academic institutions, and private businesses to assess the impact of commuting on national, state and county economic development.

Description

Government agencies commonly used the estimates to understand, develop and implement public policies. Academic researchers used the statistics for theoretical and applied economic research.

Businesses used the estimates largely for market research. This series contains state and county - level rec ords about the number of commuters and their earnings. The records contain annual estimates of commuters' gross income inflows and outflows for counties, the numbers of commuters from county of residence to county of work, and the numbers of workers and their wages by place of residence and place of work for states and counties.
