Taxonomic notes Maranta (Marantaceae): a new combination and an updated infrageneric classification for the genus

(2025): Taxonomic notes Maranta (Marantaceae): a new combination and an updated infrageneric classification for the genus. Phytotaxa 684 (1): 135-138, DOI: 10.11646/phytotaxa.684.1.9, URL: doi.org/10.11646/phytotaxa.684.1.9 Because of polyphyly, the genus Maranta was expanded to include Hylaeanthe, Koernickanthe and Myrosma.

Although most taxa in these genera already have combinations in Maranta, one species, Myrosma cannifolia, does not yet have a name available. We here propose the required combination (Maranta cannifolia) alongside an updated list of representative species of Maranta, which are classified into two subgenera.
