Patent Dataset for Technology Convergence Relationship Formation Across Multiple Domains, 2015–2024

This dataset is designed to support research on the formation of technology convergence relationships.
Description
The data were retrieved from the Patent Search and Analysis System of the China National Intellectual Property Administration and cover multiple domains, including supply chain digital technologies, smart grids, smart agriculture, intelligent industrial operation and maintenance, new energy vehicles and charging or battery-swapping technologies, and semiconductor manufacturing and packaging testing.
The original patent search period spans 2015–2025. Considering patent publication lags and the need for complete observation periods in annual relationship-formation analysis, the dataset used for analysis contains patent records from 2015 to 2024 after removing records from 2025. The dataset mainly includes Chinese invention patents and utility model patents and was collected, organized, and screened according to predefined domain-specific keywords and IPC classification ranges.Patent data for each domain are stored in tabular format, with each record corresponding to one patent.

The main fields include application number, application date, publication or grant date, IPC classification code, applicant or patent holder, invention title, and abstract. The IPC classification field records one or more IPC codes assigned to each patent, with multiple codes separated by delimiters. The applicant or patent holder field is used to identify innovation actors and their cross-technology positioning.
The invention title and abstract provide textual information for extracting technological content as well as statements related to problems, needs, and objectives.
