Funerary Relief of a Woman with Female Servant, So-called Siren Relief (K 755)

Listed in bonndata

The motif of the female deceased putting on jewellery with the help of an assisting servant is depicted fairly frequently.

Description

This scene may appear banal, but acquires deeper meaning by the underworldly siren couple in the finial of the stele. The deceased adorns herself for the very last time to enter the underworld realm as “bride of Hades”.
