EDIA – Global Bird Monitoring Program of the Alqueva Dam (EFMA) Secondary Irrigation Network, block B (irrigation blocks of Alfundão, Ferreira-Valbom, Loureiro-Alvito, Monte novo, Pedrógão, Pisão, São Matias and Vale de Gaio): Diurnal Raptors – linear transects [2019-2020]

The dataset contains records of diurnal raptors in the area of the Secondary Irrigation Network of the Alqueva Dam (block B: irrigation blocks of Alfundão, Ferreira-Valbom, Loureiro-Alvito, Monte novo, Pedrógão, Pisão, São Matias and Vale de Gaio), and a control area, performed within the General Bird Monitoring Plan of the area, promoted by EDIA, S.A. Data were collected in the spring/winter of 2019-20 and, in some cases, in the spring of 2020.

The diurnal raptors and alike species (eg., Corvidae), as well as other relevant species (eg. Ciconia nigra) were searched for in 62 transects (53 in the study area and nine in a control area). The occurrence of the target taxa was documented through 438 records of individuals.
