In this report, Amnesty International expresses grave concern at the 'disappearances' and other human rights violations to which hundreds of refugees returning to Brazzaville were subjected during and after May 1999.
Description
The organization is concerned that the Congolese authorities have failed to take adequate measures to establish responsibility for the violations and bring those responsible to justice. The government has also failed in its international obligation to protect the fundamental rights of refugees and asylum-seekers, especially those from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
