Immigrant Brides, Citizenship, and Social Policies: the Welfare Discourses of Domestic Violence

This study, based on feminist critique of citizenship, uses both qualitative and quantitative research methods to investigate immigrant brides who are the victims of domestic violence face the difficulty of seeking help.

Description

The purposes of this study: 1.Using questionnaire to investigate immigrant brides suffering domestic violence and to explore the police and the service providers’ difficulty of helping immigrant brides. 2.Interviewing the service provider to understand the difficulty they encounter and their experience, when they help immigrant bride. 3.To understand whether because of her immigrant status, immigrant brides cannot have convenient access to the social service and therefore it is difficult for them to seek autonomy 4.To understand whether the current policies and immigrant law hinder service providers from helping immigrant brides.
