Data description of bulk rock composition and LA-MC-ICP-MS U-Pb zircon, hafnium and REE datasets of orthogneisses in the Schladming Crystalline (Silvretta-Seckau Nappe System, Upper Austroalpine)

Description
This data publication contains the associated datasets and figures from the paper ‘New insights into the Cambrian to Permian evolution of the Austroalpine basement units of the Schladming Crystalline by U-Pb zircon geochronology and granitoid geochemistry’ by Haas et al. (2026), published in the Austrian Journal of Earth Sciences. 51 samples of orthogneiss from 3 plutonic suites in the Schladming Tauern area (Silvretta-Seckau cover system, Upper Eastern Alps) were analysed.
The present datasets include (0) a sample list with coordinates in the WGS84 coordinate system, (1) the analytical conditions for zircon analyse using LA-MC-ICP-MS, (2) the LA-MC-ICP-MS measurements of individual zircons from samples and reference zircons, (3) the LA-MC-ICP-MS measurements of hafnium isotopy in samples and reference zircons, (4) the rare-earth element concentrations in zircons from samples, as measured by LA-MC-ICP-MS, and (5) whole-rock analyses of major and trace elements.

Supplementary figures show (A1) REE patterns of trace elements in zircon, (A2) two-dimensional diagrams of Dy versus Yb/Dy and Th/U versus Zr/Hf for zircons, (A3) diagrams illustrating the variation of selected major elements (wt.%) and trace elements (ppm) as a function of the SiO₂ content (wt.%) of the Lignitz Plutonic Suite, (A4) the Untertal Plutonic Suite and (A5) the Eisenhut Plutonic Suite, (A6) diagrams of V/Ti, Ti/Zr, Sr/Y, Ba/Sr as a function of SiO₂, which show possible fractionation trends, particularly in relation to Fe-Ti oxides and feldspar.
