<p dir="ltr">This dataset includes 4 TIFF files showing orders from Charles City County in Virginia. They were created to settle disputes between residents within Charles City County and ultimately issue punishments, judgments, and fines. These documents were used to identify escaped unfree laborers in the 17th century Chesapeake and the punishments associated with their escape.</p><p dir="ltr">To learn more about this project, please go to the <a href="dangerousharbor.vt.domains/">Dangerous Harbor Website</a>.</p>
