Summary data for assessing observation history and solar and geomagnetic activity in low-latitude TEC models

Listed in ScienceDB

Aggregated source data supporting "Solar and geomagnetic information for background TEC and short-scale fluctuations over Hainan: an explainable machine-learning analysis".

Description

The study uses 2015-2020 GNSS observations from Danzhou, Hainan, and solar and geomagnetic indices to compare conditional estimation benefits in models of hourly VTEC and dTEC RMS. Main local history consists of target values at lags 1 and 24 h, not a continuous 24 h sequence.

Centered dTEC windows are used for retrospective estimation, not operational forecasting.Version 2 adds complete-activity-range geomagnetic comparisons and disturbance-onset and continuing-amplitude summaries. P05_ScienceDB_Data_UPDATE_v16.zip is the complete current data archive, containing 62 aggregate CSV tables and supporting JSON/Markdown documentation (72 files total), covering four main-text and six supplementary figures.

Any retained earlier archive belongs to the previous manuscript version and is not required for reproducing the current figures.Companion software is deposited separately under MIT at doi.org/10.57760/sciencedb.012rf. Combine the current data and code archives as directed in their README files to reconstruct the ten figures. Full model refitting requires upstream research inputs that are not distributed.

VTEC and back-transformed dTEC RMS errors use TECU; the dTEC fitting scale is log(1 + RMS / 1 TECU). Missing values mean unavailable or not applicable, not zero. Column units, sample support and figure mappings are documented in the package. No raw GNSS or ionosonde observations, manual Es parameters, spread-F labels, extracted E- or F-layer parameters, individual event catalogs, row-level inputs/predictions/SHAP, or fitted model weights are included.
