Descriptive Study Data: Reading Instruction and Skills of AAC Users with Intellectual Disability

These data were collected in a mixed-method descriptive study that was part of the larger research project “Optimizing reading instruction for students with intellectual disability with complex communication needs” financed by the Swiss National Science Foundation (data.snf.ch/grants/grant/192562). In this study, both quantitative and qualitative data were collected. Quantitative data on students' skills was collected using several standardised tests and questionnaires completed by teachers.

Quantitative data about the students' teachers and classroom context was collected using a short questionnaire completed by teachers. Qualitative data was collected on the reading instruction provided to students with observations and interviews. This qualitative data was quantified following analysis.
