Replication data for Figs 15.2 and 15.3, GPDs, Julian dates for copulation, parturition, and first juvenile emergences, 13 May 2026.

Listed in data.InDoRES

For today's file, I have deleted several variables from old file = GPDs, UC, MC, all 3 cols, 02 July 2022 For 2018, I have data from TWO GPDs marked 92 (323).

Description

Two GPD fems here, I think, but I have assigned same eartag to both. I use 92#1 and 92#2 for these two females.

In this file, date of parturition or date of first emergence of litter does not always agree with dates in file = GPDs, POLY, all 3 colonies, 29 July 2021. I am not sure why. Notice that both 92#1 and 92#2 both copulated with a single male, and that neither 92#1 nor 92#2 weaned a litter.

I will retain data from both females for certain statistical analyses. This file now contains data from ALL THREE study colonies: PEFO, RMC, and VCC Data from RMC and VCC have been checked ONE TIME ONLY, but carefully I have carefully checked litter sizes for this file. I also have carefully checked litter sizes for analyses of polyandry and polygyny I also have carefully checked presence or absence of litter Dates shown here are Julian dates.

Julian date of copulation = 71 = 12 March, for example. Julian date of first emergence of juveniles from natal burrow entrance = 145 = 25 May, for example. Julian date of parturition = 84 = March 25, for example.

These Julian data are for NON-LEAP years. Julian dates for leap years after 28 February differ by 1 day. Date of copulation is obvious.

Date of first emergence of juveniles = approximate date of weaning = date when juveniles first appeared aboveground at natal burrow-entrance. Date of parturition = date when mother gave birth underground. Date of parturition was +- one day (see text for Chapter 15).

Litter size at first juvenile emergence = date when juveniles first appear appear aboveground at natal nursery-burrow. No eartags in this file. GPD female ID is a temporary identification for each GPD female per year.

All data on same line are from THE SAME single litter/mother for a single year. I considered data from the same female in different years to be independent. For some litters, I have data for all four variables.

For others, I have data for only 1 or 2 variables. Female ID for Petrified Forest National Park (PEFO) from 1989-1995 is JLH designation per year--these designations do NOT correspond to eartags or Nyanzol markers. Female IDs for 2013 through 2016 are Nyanzol markers for females at Redondo Meadow Colony (RMC) at Valles Caldera National Preserve Female IDs for 2017 and 2018 are Nyanzol markers for females at Visitor Visitor Center Colony (VCC) at Valles Caldera National Preserve I started this file from SYSTAT file = gpolyuc.sys, which I created on 15 Oct 2010.

I assume that I checked the SYSTAT file 2X for PEFO data upon creation I will use 1991 data from this GPD file to plot (a) date of copulation vs date vs parturition and (b) date of copulation vs date of first emergence of juveniles as evidence that copulatory partners from underground consortships were accurate. See Figs 15.16 and 15.17 for this evidence. Fig 15.3 shows means + one Standard Error (SEM) Standard errors were usually small, because my sample sizes for each year were large.

In some GPD case for Fig 15.3, I have shown SEM = 0.800 to show small small SEMs that extend slightly beyond the circles— because showing slightly inflated SEMs is better than suggesting no variation at all, in my opinion. These data used for Figs 15.2, and 15.3 in Hoogland 2026. This file ready for longterm storage on 12 March 2025.
