Ocean Bottom Seismometer Data from the OBS2018-H2 Wide-Angle Seismic Profile in the Mid-Northern South China Sea

Dataset was collected during 2018, using R/V “Shiyan 2” that belongs to the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The objective is to investigate the deep crustal structure and to reveal the rift-to-drift process in the mid-northern South China Sea distal margin.

Ten ocean-bottom seismometers (OBSs) were deployed along the approximately 180 km long, SW–NE-striking OBS2018-H2 profile, with instrument spacing varying from ~9 to 14 km. All 10 OBSs were successfully recovered, and a total of 849 effective shots were fired from east to west along the profile. The format of seismic data in this repository is SEGY recorded by the geophone vertical and horizontal components.
