A. SUMMARY This dataset contains the historical U.S. Congressional District boundaries for San Francisco as they existed from 2012 to 2022 (based on the 2010 Census redistricting cycle).
Description
It includes Districts 12, 13, and 14. This is an archival/reference dataset for historical analysis.
B. HOW THE DATASET IS CREATED Congressional district boundaries are established through the redistricting process following each decennial U.S. Census. In California, the Citizens Redistricting Commission draws the boundaries. The source geographic data is referenced on UCLA's Political Science Department's website, cdmaps.polisci.ucla.edu/, downloaded as GeoJson from github.com/JeffreyBLewis/congressional-district-boundaries/tree/master/GeoJson and then clipped in FME to the City and County of San Francisco's non-water boundary by the City's GIS team (SF Department of Technology).

C. UPDATE PROCESS This is a historical/archival dataset and is not expected to change. It was last loaded on 2026-08-19. D. HOW TO USE THIS DATASET Contains 3 rows representing Districts 12, 13, and 14.
Use this dataset for historical analysis or to compare how district lines shifted between the 2010-cycle and 2020-cycle redistricting. Note that district numbers changed between cycles, so do not assume the same number refers to the same geographic area across time periods. E.
