Suspended Particulate Matter, E. coli and Enterococci measurements in the Bagre Lake, Burkina Faso

In order to estimate bacteria and associated pathogens in surface waters (ponds, reservoirs, lakes, rivers) in West Africa, the TELESSAO project uses spatial observation to characterize the occurrence and concentration of suspended matter (SPM).
Description
SPM, E. Coli and enterococci measurements were carried out at the Kapore site in the Bagré Lake region (Burkina Faso) between March 2018 and April 2019, at bi-monthly time during the dry season and weekly during the rainy season.
The analyzes of these measurements allowed to study the links between the environmental parameters (precipitation, SPM, Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) and the microbiological quality at the Kapore site. L’objectif du projet TELESSAO est d’utiliser l’observation spatiale pour caractériser l’occurrence et la concentration des matières en suspension (MES) afin d’estimer les bactéries et pathogènes associés dans les eaux de surface (mares, réservoirs, lacs, rivières) en Afrique de l’Ouest.

Des mesures de MES, d’E. Coli et d’entérocoques ont été effectuées au site de Kapore dans la région du Lac de Bagré (Burkina Faso) entre mars 2018 et avril 2019 avec un pas de temps bi-mensuel en saison sèche et hebdomadaire en saison des pluies. L’analyse de ces mesures a permis d’étudier les liens entre les paramètres environnementaux (précipitation, MES, NDVI) et la qualité microbiologique au site de Kapore.
