Replication data for Figs 15.2 and 15.3, UPDs, Julian dates for copulation, parturition, and first juvenile emergences, 13 May 2026.

Another OLD File name = UPDs, Dates for Cop, Partur, Wean, 28 Sept 2020 I created this EXCEL file on 28 Sept 2020 from SYSTAT file = Utahgest.syz. Note suffix of "syz" here I created Utahgest.syz on 18 Nov 2016. I used file = Utahgest.syz for an earlier publication, I think, and I assume that I checked this file TWO TIMES at creation Date of copulation is obvious.

Date of first emergence of juveniles = approximate date of weaning (see text) = date when juveniles first appeared aboveground at natal burrow-entrance. Date of parturition = date when mother gave birth underground. Date of parturition was +- one day (see text of Chapter 15).

Litter size at first juvenile emergence = date when juveniles first appear appeared aboveground at natal nursery-burrow. All data on same line are from THE SAME single litter/mother in the same year. For some litters, I have data for all four variables.

For others, I have data for only 1 or 2 variables. Fig 15.3 shows means + one Standard Error (SEM) Standard errors were usually small, because my sample sizes for each year were large. In some UPD cases, I have shown SEM = 0.700 to show small SEMs that extend slightly beyond the circles— because showing slightly inflated SEMs is better than suggesting no variation at all, in my opinion.

These data used for Figs, 15.2 and 15.3 in Hoogland 2026. This file ready for longterm storage on 12 March 2025. I considered data from the same female in different years to be independent.

No eartags in this file. UPD female ID is case number for each UPD female per year. I will use 1997 data from this UPD file to plot (a) date of copulation vs date vs parturition and (b) date of copulation vs date of first emergence of juveniles as evidence that copulatory partners from underground consortships were accurate.
