Aquatic assemblages, environmental variables, and land use data from a Brazilian semi-arid non-perennial river (2018–2019)

The data were collected in multiple river sections distributed across six sampling sites and sampled during two campaigns. Biological data include species composition and abundance of fish and aquatic macroinvertebrates sampled using trawl nets and Surber samplers, respectively.

Environmental data include limnological variables (e.g., water temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, electrical conductivity, turbidity, salinity, and redox potential) and habitat characteristics (e.g., river depth, section width, macrophyte cover, substrate composition, and shading). Land use and land cover data for riparian areas were obtained from the MapBiomas project. Spatial data include geographic coordinates of sampling sites and dendritic distances along the river network, which were used to generate asymmetric eigenvector maps (AEM).
