The agency conducted the Truck Inventory and Use Survey to provide a periodic statistical picture of the structure and functioning of the nation's truck transportation sector.

Description

The agency produced summary statistic data files for researchers. This series contains summary data on the physical and operational characteristics of the nation's truck population.

Data are based on a probability sample of private and commercial trucks registered or licensed in each state during the survey year. Summary data include percent distribution of trucks by state, truck detail statistics by state, truck operational characteristics, truck miles and average truck miles by type of truck, truck miles by major use, truck miles by truck type and axle, trucks and truck miles by body type, truck miles distribution, and truck type by trailer size most often pulled.
