Replication Data for: Penguins maintain effort, despite reduced dive efficiency, with limited physiological response under increased swimming workload

Monitored pairs were assigned to either control or treated groups, ensuring a balanced spatial and temporal distribution between groups. Adults were then instrumented with loggers according to the following experimental protocol: (i) control birds (N = 12 and 22 birds belonging to 7 and 13 breeding pairs in 2019 and 2022, respectively) were equipped with an Axy-Trek Marine High Depth data logger (TechnoSmArt Europe srl, Rome, Italy); (ii) treated birds (N = 13 and 20 birds belonging to 7 and 11 breeding pairs in 2019 and 2022 respectively) were equipped both with an Axy-Trek and a dummy device (see Lemonnier et al. 2025, Oecologia for details).

Dataset includes the dive summaries (duration, maximum depth, diving phases, angle, swimming speed, wiggles etc.), ascent and descent summaries and bird equipment metadata. Script for statistical analysis are also provided.
