Environmental Risk Perceptions and Change: A case of Petrochemical Complex
Listed in Harvard Dataverse
This paper reports a personal survey for environmental risks in Linyan and Daiser Petrochemical Complex areas.
Description
Data to estimate the model are obtained through a combined risk perception and contingent valuation survey that contains 6 environmental risks. The first five risks from the petrochemical complex included air pollution, odor, noise, water pollution, and industrial wastes.
The other risk is drinking water pollution. Air pollution and odor were ranked top concern by the residents. The averting expenditures method and contingent valuation methods are examined and used to approximate the economic costs of drinking water degradation to households in two Southern Taiwan community.
