Research productivity and secular stagnation: Is there a correlation between research productivity and economic growth in OECD countries?

Recent papers have documented a reduction in research productivity over time.
Description
We estimate the relationship between research productivity and economic growth using a panel of OECD economies between 1981 and 2019. For countries in the G7, we find a strong correlation between these two variables.
The effect is both statistically significant and quantitatively relevant.
