Census of Transportation, Communication, and Utilities Summary Files

Data are provided for the U.S., census regions, states, and metropolitan areas. Ratios and comparative statistics for states are also available.The summary data from the 1992 Census of Transportation, Communication, and Utilities is in three parts: Geographic Area Series, Revenue Lines, and Establishment and Firm Size Files. Geographic Area Series files have data on 133 Standard Industrial Classification codes or kind-of-business classifications.

Available statistics include employment, number of establishments, annual and first quarter payroll, revenue, and comparative statistics. Geographic areas include the U.S., states, and metropolitan areas. The Revenue Lines file has data on the number of establishments handling the line, the revenue of that line, and coverage.

Data items include number of establishments, revenue, revenue of reporting establishments as a percent of total revenue, and coverage. Establishment and Firm Size files have national data on the revenue size of establishments, employment size of establishments, single unit and multi-unit firms, revenue size of firms, employment size of firms, concentration by the largest firms, and legal form of organization. Also available are stat istics on the number of establishments, revenue, revenue size of establishments, and legal form of organization for nonemployers.
