Description

This dataset contains the digitized treatments in Plazi based on the original journal article ZWEIFEL, RICHARD G., MENZIES, JAMES I., PRICE, DAVID (2003): A New Species of Microhylid Frog, Genus Oreophryne, from Papua New Guinea. American Museum Novitates 3419: 1-8, DOI: 10.1206/0003-0082(2003)415<0001:SOMFGO>2.0.CO;2, URL: bioone.org/doi/abs/10.1206/0003-0082%282003%29415%3C0001%3ASOMFGO%3E2.0.CO%3B2 ABSTRACT I describe a new species of Oreophryne from Southern Highlands Province and Western Province, Papua New Guinea, bringing the total number recognized in the genus to 29, of which 18 occur on New Guinea and islands immediately adjacent.

Many New Guinean species await description. The new species is a small, scansorial, rainforestdwelling frog distinguished from others of the genus in aspects of morphology, color pattern, and advertisement call.
