ICES Stomach Content data

The historical data was collected during the Year of the Stomach (YoS) and the EU Stomach Tender (EU Tender No MARE/2012/02), while recent data was collected under the EU Framework Contract for the Studies providing scientific advice in support of the Common Fisheries Policy in the Baltic Sea and North Sea EU waters (SANoBA) in 2022.

During the SANoBA project the ICES data format was revised to become a standardised and quality-controlled format to include both historical and newly collected stomach data. The first YoS collection was performed in 1981 and covered a handful of species from the North Sea, and a in 1985-1986 a follow up data collection washeld.. A decade later, in 1991, the 2nd YoS was held, where the data were collected as part of an ICES initiative and the results and analyses were presented in two cooperative reports (doi.org/10.17895/ices.pub.4533and doi.org/10.17895/ices.pub.4626).
