One day Observation of Water birds in Dipor Bill only Ramsar site in Assam.

This dataset covers the areas of Kamrup district at Deepor Beel. It is a permanent freshwater lake formed in a former channel of the Brahmaputra River, located to the south of the main river.

Deepor Beel is the only Ramsar site in Assam and the third Ramsar site in the northeastern region of India. It is situated at an altitude of 53 meters above mean sea level, with a maximum depth of about 4 meters; however, during the dry season, the depth drops to around 1 meter. "Refined with better english and GBIF description supported format" Under the Ramsar Convention in 2002, an area of 40.14 sq. km was declared as the Deepor Beel wetland, and 4.14 sq. km was proposed as a bird sanctuary under the Wildlife (Protection) Act of India, 1972 (Government of Assam, 1989).
