Relationship Development in Algorithmic Dating Platforms: A SIP Perspective among Bumble Users

Data was collected using interview techniques, online observations, and documentation. Data analysis uses thematic analysis methods that include coding, categorization, and theme interpretation. Four informants were selected deliberately based on the following criteria: active Bumble users for at least three months, engaged in conversations through the app's chat function, and Bumble users who were over 18 years old.

The results of the study found that self-disclosure is done gradually and depends on the level of trust developed by the users. Each informant uses text-based engagement, emojis, and personalized interaction styles to build emotional connections and manage uncertainty in online interactions. In the Indonesian context, it was found that it can affect the way users express themselves, they tend to be more cautious when disclosing personal information compared to the Western context.
