Description
I started to create this file from File = BGUW, Cop sums from Jessica, 23 Jan 2021 In this file, Resmale = sexually active male(s) in home territory = Resident male Cop with Resmale = 1 means that fem copulated with Resmale, WITH or WITHOUT COPPING WITH OUTSIDE MALES Cop with Resmale = 0 means that fem DID NOT COPULATE WITH Resmale Cop with Resmale(s) only = 1 means that fem copulated with Resmales ONLY--with NO COPS with outside males Cop with Resmale(s) only = 0 means that fem copulated >=1 OUTSIDE MALE, WITH or WITHOUT cop with Resmale Monandry-Resmale only = 1 means that monandrous female copulated WITH ONLY THE Resmale and no others Monandry-Resmale only = 0 means that monandrous female copulated WITH OUTSIDE MALE ONLY, with no cop with Resmale No male coterie or no male clan = coterie or clan with no resident male in May.
See Chapters 9 and 10 for types of coteries and clans. For all no-male coteries and clans, I assumed (a) Cop with Resmale = 0, (b) Cop with Resmale(s) only = 0 and Monandry-Resmale only = 0 On 24-25 Nov 2023, I used hard copy and checked this file ONE TIME ONLY. For variable = Monandry-Resmale only, I checked a second time on the computer screen.

I have only checked variables G, H, and I--the ones I will use for analysis. I have created this file so that I can calculate the frequencies for all for species for (1) Percentage of females that copulate with >= 1 Resmale, (2) Percentage of monandrous AND POLYANDROUS females that copulated with Resmale ONLY, and (3) Percentage of monandrous females that copulated with Resmale ONLY Cop = copulation observed GPD data are from all three study-colonies: PEFO, RMC, and VCC.
GPD Redondo Meadow Colony (RMC, studied in 2013 through 2016) was at Valles Caldera National Preserve (VCNP). GPD Visitor Center Colony (VCC, studied in 2017 and 2018) was also at VCNP. GPD colony at Petrified Forest National Park (PEFO) was studied from 1989 through 1995.
These data used for Fig 20.6 in Hoogland 2026. This file ready for longterm storage on 07 April 2025. Eartags and Nyanzol markers are available for some of the females in this EXCEL file.
I considered data from the same prairie dog in different years to be independent. All BTPD data from single Rankin Ridge Colony at Wind Cave National Park. All UPD data from single Horse Corral Colony at Bryce Canyon National Park.
