A Study of the Predictive Effect of the Insight to the Schizophrenic Patients\' Suicide, Homicide, Drug Compliance, Social Adjustment and Relapse
Listed in Harvard Dataverse
The term\'insight\'encompasses a complex concept which should not be considered as an isolated symptom which is present or absent.
Description
It may be more appropriate to think of insight as a continuum of thinking and feeling, affected by numerous internal and external variables. The past studies focused on the evaluation of the effects of dynamic psychotherapy, the processing that insight of mental-ill patients formed , the relationships between insight and drug compliance , and the relapse of schizophrenia by using insight as a predictor.
In order to increase the understanding of mental illness and make adequate treatment plans, systemic and standarized scale to evaluate the insight of patients with mental illness was build up in the NSC research plan \"Qualitative and quantitative evaluation of the insight of the schizophrenic patients\" in which one hundred schizophrenic cases were interviewed. By this scale , schizophrenic patients\' insights were quantited in five dimentions.

In order to examine whether the insight is a good predictor to the occurrence of suicidal and homicidal behavior, the changes of drug compliance and social adjustment , and relapse of schizophrenia , one hundred schizophrenic cases in the past one study will be followed up to detect the occurrence of suicide and homicide , changes of drug compliance and social adjustment , and relapse of illness. The relationship of insight with these factors will be examined.
