Flora of the war-affected pine forests of the Izium Forestry (Kharkiv Oblast, Ukraine)

The forest stands are predominantly represented by artificial plantations of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.). Ukrainian forest ecosystems under climate change face an additional challenge from military aggression.

In the eastern part of Ukraine, even-aged pine stands on sandy soils experience severe damage from fires and shelling, leading to mechanical injury of trees and altered ecosystem dynamics. The dataset is focused on the flora of areas that were damaged by fires during full-scale war (mostly in 2022). Due to landmine contamination, many areas remain unmanaged, allowing natural but poorly studied post-war successional processes to unfold.
