Refugee participation case study: the Karkora settlement in eastern Sudan
Listed in ZivaHub and Deakin Research Online — shown once because both records carry DOI 10.25446/oxford.33385672.v1
This report focuses on refugee participation aspects of the Save the Children Federation (SCF) programme in Karkora, a settlement for Eritrean refugees in eastern Sudan.
Description
It provides information about Karkora and then explores four specific approaches which SCF has taken: applying site selection criteria to maximize project success; promoting developmental efforts during the emergency relief phase; hiring, training, and handing over responsibility to refugee staff in a systematic, planned manner; and balancing support for traditional leaders with techniques for involving other refugees as well.
