<p dir="ltr">This thesis investigates long term variability and future change in Southern Ocean phytoplankton using satellite observations, sea ice analysis, deep learning reconstruction, and climate projections.

It identifies dominant physical drivers of chlorophyll a variability, highlights the critical role of sea ice regime shifts, and introduces an observation constrained U Net framework to reduce uncertainty in future projections.
Results indicate widespread declines in phytoplankton biomass under climate warming, with significant implications for Southern Ocean productivity and carbon sequestration.</p>
