Replication data for Figs 15.9 and 15.10, GPDs, CUC and CAC Start times, Durations, 18 May 2026
Listed in data.InDoRES
I created this file from SYSTAT file = GUNNUX.sys, which I created on 06 Aug 1997.
Description
I used this SYSTAT file for previous publication, and I assume that I checked it TWO TIMES at creation. Each GPD female could have only ONE First UC and ONE Last UC But a GPD female could have had 2-3 CUCs if she received sperm for 2-3 males.
In this file, First UC = 10.5 = 1030hours, NOT 1050am. Likewise, First UC = 17.93 = 1756 hours, NOT 17hours, 93 min So, this file differs from BTPD file, which shows TIMES rather than hours and fractions of hours Single CAC = Critical Aboveground Copulation of BB on 03 April 1990 added on 10 Nov 2020 = Case 496 Duration of CUC or CAC is in MINUTES Another OLDFile name = GPDs, Starttimes, First and last UC, 27 Oct 2020 I created this file from SYSTAT file = Gfirstuc.SYS, which I created on 01 Aug 1997.

I used this SYSTAT file for previous publication, and I assume that I checked it TWO TIMES at creation. The SYSTAT file = GUNNCUC.SYS did NOT include the case from 1990 for a single CAC (Critical Aboveground Copulation) from BB on 03 Apr 1990 I have added that single case to this file (case #496) I assume that I created the SYSTAT file = GUNNCUC TWO TIMES at creation, because I used it Hoogland 1998 Another OLD File name = GPDs, CUCs, CACs, all 3 colonies, 12 July 2022 CUC = Critical Underground Consortship, when insemination probably occurred CAC = Critical Aboveground Copulation, when insemination probably occurred CUC or CAC = 0 = CUC was, indeed, underground CUC or CAC = 1 = insemination probably occurred in Critical ABOVEGROUND Copulation Number of above cops = number of aboveground copulations WITH OR WITHOUT PROBABLE TRANSFER OF SPERM GPD data from PEFO (1989 through 1995) was presumably checked when PEFO data entered on 06 Aug 1997 (see above note) GPD data from RMC and VCC (2013-2018) have now been checked TWO TIMES As noted above, data from PEFO (1989-1995) were checked two times when entered many years ago Note for PEFO (1989-1995): 10.50 means halfway between 10 and 11am = 1030am Note for RMC and VCC (2013-2018): 1050 means 50 minutes after 10am = 1050 I will need to account for this difference in times for certain analyses--but I will IGNORE the difference for other analyses where the difference MAKES NO DIFFERENCE in the analyses--e.g., when I use, for examples, intervals between 10am and 11am, 1pm and 2pm, etc.
Hmmm on 15 Feb 2025: I am not sure about this logic. Everything in this file has now been checked TWO TIMES Another OLDFile name = Fig 15.8, 15.9, GPDs, CUC start times, durations, 15 Feb 2025 Data from Petrified Forest National Park (PEFO) from 1989 through 1995 Does NOT include eartags or Nyanzol markers. Data from Redondo Meadow Colony (RMC) at Valles Caldera National Preserve (VCNP) and Visitor Center Colony (VCC) at VCNP DO include Nyanzol Marker but these data from RMC and VCC do NOT include information from eartags These data used for Figures 15.9, and 15.10 in Hoogland 2026.
This file ready for longterm storage on 15 March 2025. Each line contains information from one prairie dog per year. No information for eartags or Nyanzol markers.
I consider data from the same female in different years to be independent. BD = Both Down = Underground Consortship (UC) of estrous female and sexually active male. I scored BD as an Underground Copulation if the pair stayed underground for >=5 mins, and sometimes if the pair stayed underground for >=2 minutes.
All times are 24-hour times (military times). Min = minute File name = Figs 15.9 and 15.10, GPDs, CUC and CAC Start times, Durations, 18 May 2026
