The Arabian Sea Experiment - Water Salinity Data

Listed in NASA Earthdata CMR

The Arabian Sea Experiment, funded by the Office Of Naval Research, took place near the climatological mean axis of the Findlater Jet in the Arabian Sea.

Description

A moored array was deployed in order to improve understanding of air-sea interaction in the region, and in particular to investigate the oceanic response to the strong, large-scale atmospheric forcing associated with the summer and winter monsoons. The Upper Ocean Processes Group maintained a surface mooring at the site for one year.

The nominal water depth was 4030 m. Water Salinity Data from this experiment include: Location: At 15 degrees 30N, 61 degrees 30EEEE Duration: 94/10/16 to 95/10/19 Sample Rate: 15 minutes Variables: Salinity Instrumentation: The SeaCats and MVMSs in the list of subsurface instruments measured salinity. Processing Notes: are not yet available Time Series Plots: are not yet available.gov to improve the discovery of geospatial data assets by science users
