Investigations and evaluation of public and private outdoor kindergarten playgrounds in Taiwan

This study will interview 20 directors and 20 teachers through semistructured interview, and randomly select 270 kindergartens for questionnaire.The objectives of this study are first to examine and evaluate the types, the contents, the present safety problems, and the functions of outdoor kindergarten playgrounds.

The study will also compare public and private kindergartens with each other in type, content, safety, and function for better understanding. Secondly, through interview and questionnaire, the investigator will get better understanding on director\'s and teacher\'s perceptions of outdoor play. Thirdly, the Revised Playground Survey Instrument will be appropriate and convenient for educational parties, researchers, and teachers to use.
