<p dir="ltr">This deposit contains the replication data and code for "The character as target:</p><p dir="ltr">computational research on Chinese writing and the tradition it rarely reads, 2010–2025".</p><p><br></p><p dir="ltr">The corpus was retrieved from the public OpenAlex API on 5 September 2026 with the query</p><p dir="ltr">filter=title.search:calligraphy,from_publication_date:2010-01-01,to_publication_date:2025-12-31,type=article|review,</p><p dir="ltr">returning 2,735 unique records after DOI/title deduplication.

Reference lists for the citation</p><p dir="ltr">analysis were retrieved from the public Crossref works API on the same date. No private or</p><p dir="ltr">licensed resource was used.</p><p><br></p><p dir="ltr">The archive holds the master pull, the derived pull, the venue-based partition, the work-level</p><p dir="ltr">classification of records as computational or non-computational, the eight sampled works used in</p><p dir="ltr">the reference analysis, the coverage probes, and the retrieval and figure-generation scripts.</p><p dir="ltr">See README.md for a file-by-file inventory.</p><p><br></p><p dir="ltr">The per-reference classification behind the citation split of 180 and 10 is not included; the</p><p dir="ltr">classification rule is stated in the article's supplementary methods and the per-reference</p><p dir="ltr">assignment is available from the corresponding author.</p><p><br></p>
