Bongo plankton tow samples from thirty cruises to the Gulf of Maine and Georges Bank region were screened for fish larvae abundance.
Description
Fish larvae were identified by species and measured for lengths. Sampling was conducted over a fixed sampling grid, on a monthly basis (January-June) for years 1995-1999.
The 0.61-meter bongo was towed obliquely with a 45 degree wire angle at each station. Net mesh was 0.335 mm. Tows were made to within five meters of the bottom or to a maximum depth of 200 meters.
