A new species of the purse-web spider genus Calommata Lucas, 1837, Calommata chishui Wu & Xu, sp. nov. (♂ ♀), is described based on specimens collected from Chishui, Guizhou Province, China. The male of this new species possesses a distinctly white palpal patella, representing a unique autapomorphy that readily distinguishes the new species from all other known congeners.
Detailed morphological descriptions, diagnostic photographs, and distributional data are provided. Furthermore, mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) DNA barcodes are provided for both sexes to facilitate supplementary verification, accurate sex association, and future research.
