Survey of Taiwan Training Programs for Elementary School Counselors

Listed in Harvard Dataverse

The purpose of the present study was to examine Taiwan training models for elementary school counselors.

Description

Participants were 798, included faculty members, students, and alumni of current training programs. Three perspectives, ideal characters, performance, and future development, were investigated through questionnaires.

The major findings were: 1.Ideal characters for elementary school counselors were highly demanded, which focused more on counseling attitudes, less on administration and evaluation abilities. 2.The performance of training programs was positive related to the ideal characters. 3.There were consistency discrepancies between faculty members and alumni for perceptions on the ideal characters, performance, and future development of elementary school counselor training programs. 4.The future development of training programs should emphasize more on practical training.
