Survey Questionnaire on the “Cyber Study Companion” Phenomenon

Listed in ScienceDB

This dataset was generated from an online questionnaire survey conducted for the study of the “Cyber Study Companion” phenomenon.

Description

It is mainly used to analyze the relationships between Study-with-me (SWM) video use and learners’ light connection presence, parasocial interaction, loneliness alleviation, learning motivation, and learning persistence. The questionnaire was distributed through Wenjuanxing from March 26 to May 1, 2026.

A total of 317 responses were collected. After excluding respondents who had not watched SWM videos or did not meet the screening criteria, 244 valid responses were retained for formal analysis. Each row in the dataset represents one valid respondent, and each column represents a questionnaire item or variable. The dataset includes respondents’ basic information, such as gender, grade, and average daily study time, as well as core scale variables, including SWM video use, light connection presence, parasocial interaction, loneliness alleviation, learning motivation, and learning persistence.

The core variables were measured using a five-point Likert scale, where 1 indicates “strongly disagree” and 5 indicates “strongly agree.” The data processing procedures included sample screening, removal of invalid responses, variable coding, organization of scale items, and preparation for subsequent statistical analysis. This dataset was collected through an online survey without a fixed geographical sampling area.

Therefore, it does not involve specific geographic coordinates or spatial resolution. The data may contain subjective bias, recall bias, and common-method bias due to the self-reported nature of the questionnaire. Therefore, the results are mainly used to explain statistical associations among variables and should not be interpreted as strict causal relationships.

The dataset can be saved in Excel (.xlsx) or CSV (.csv) format and can be read and analyzed using Excel, SPSS, Python, SmartPLS, or fsQCA.
