Clinical trial data set of Shenlingbaizhu powder in the treatment of elderly COPD complicated with sarcopenia

Listed in ScienceDB

This dataset is derived from a randomized controlled clinical trial conducted by the Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Description

The aim is to evaluate the clinical efficacy of Shenling Baizhu Powder in treating stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD, GOLD grade 2 or above) with sarcopenia in elderly patients with lung spleen deficiency type, based on the theory of "treating different diseases with the same treatment" in traditional Chinese medicine.

A total of 80 patients were included in the study (40 in the experimental group and 40 in the control group), and 75 patients completed the entire study (37 in the experimental group and 38 in the control group), with a dropout rate of less than 10%. The dataset covers complete longitudinal observational data from 5 evaluation time points (baseline, treatment completion, follow-up at 3 months, 6 months, and 9 months), including demographic characteristics (age, gender, height, weight, BMI, smoking history, alcohol consumption history, dust exposure history, medication history, etc.), lung function indicators (FVC, FEV1, FEV1% expected value FEV1/FVC)、 Muscle atrophy related indicators (ASMI, grip strength, 6-meter walking speed) and patient reported outcome scale scores (mMRC, CAT, SPPB).

Data collection strictly follows standardized operating procedures, and lung function tests are uniformly completed by the Respiratory Department Outpatient Department of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine Affiliated Hospital. Human body composition analysis is determined by a bioelectrical impedance analyzer (BIA), and all evaluations are conducted by trained professionals. This dataset fully reflects the entire clinical intervention process of COPD patients with sarcopenia, and can provide high-quality data resources for research on comorbidities in traditional Chinese medicine treatment, exploration of longitudinal follow-up methodology, validation of the theory of treating different diseases with the same treatment, and subsequent development of machine learning prediction models.
