EDIA – Global Bird Monitoring Program of the Alqueva Dam (EFMA) Secondary Irrigation Network, Irrigation Block Alvito-Pisão (block A) and “Cuba” IBA: Reproductive Parameters of Lesser Kestrel (Falco naumanii), Eurasina Roller (Coracias garrulus) and montagu’s Harrier (Circus pygargus) [20216-2022]

The dataset contains records of the reproductive parameters (number of eggs, non-fledgling and fledgling chicks) of the Lesser Kestrel (Falco naumanii), European Roller (Coracias garrulus) and Montagu’s Harrier (Circus pygargus) collected in the Secondary Irrigation Network of the Alqueva Dam (Block A: Alvito-Pisão), in the adjacent Important Bird Area (IBA) of Cuba, and in a control area (only in 2022), as promoted by EDIA, S.A. Data were collected in four consecutive visits during the breeding season, in the springs of 2016 through 2022 (except in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemics).

All ruined buildings in the vicinity of IBA “Cuba”, included those previously known as breeding platforms were searched for, as well as other suitable breeding sites (eg.,trees). A total of 600 observations (12 of Circus pygarcus, four of Coracias garrulus and 584 of Falco naumanni) were recorded. These were made in two (probable) nest sites of C. garrulus, three (probable) nests of C. pygargus and 18 colonies of F. naumanii.
